Clay Images I am a potter, handmaking all my wares for the last 50 years. Playing with dragons is fun! Melissa received a B.S.E. (1975) in art education and M.A.

(1979) from Truman State University in Kirksville, MO. But, after five years of teaching art in the public schools, she decided to pursue her two passions - making pottery and raising a family. Gradually, her carpenter husband, Jim, began taking on more and more tasks around the pottery shop until now he works at it full time too. ce Festival in 1981. The public's demand for dragons, wizards and castles has kept Melissa busy designing new items each year. So far, her imagination hasn't failed her. They strive to make well-made stoneware pottery that is reduction fired to 2300° F. in a downdraft gas kiln. No molds are used. Most designs begin with forms made on the potter's wheel that are altered and sculpted. Both, Melissa and Jim throw on the wheel, but all the sculpting is done by Melissa. So, there may be some variances in the pieces. Jim's in charge of all the glazing and does most of the marketing, so he's the one you'll probably meet at art fairs.

I'm a bit flabbergasted. A woman just shared this photo of a wizard sculpture that I made in the 1980s. She bought it in Greenwich Village, NY! I've made over 100,000 pieces since I started selling at shows in the 1970s. I'm glad to know my work is scattered all over the USA!

We are so grateful to the Dragon lovers who purchased our creations last weekend at the Dragon Lake Renaissance Festival in Eldon. But, we still have a big inventory. So, next weekend we will have our first (and hopefully last) BOGO sale. Buy any piece and you can get a second piece for HALF price! This won't apply to mail orders.

Here we go again! All set up for the Dragon Lake Renaissance Festival at the Eldon Airpark.
May 16, 17, 23, and 24. 10-6. I enjoy making my dragons and meeting the people who adopt them. However, the hard physical labor is no fun. Lots of new designs, returning old favorites, and 2 shelves of odds and ends at bargain prices. Come and get 'em!

At last, we're done loading the van to go to the Dragon Lake Renaissance Festival in Eldon, MO, starting Saturday. May 16. This unique dragon vase has 3 siblings for sale + at least 200 dragons doing various tasks. This is our big event for the year. No porch sale this fall. Hope to see you there!
