Steve from Steve’s Bike Shop and Jack did a field trip today to one of our favorite bike shops. Phil’s Bike Shop is the longest continuously running bike shop in the northern South Bay. It was started by Phil who was a congressman. He was a Schwinn 500 and 1000 club member many times over. He went on to own Bicycle Center II in Palos Verdes. His nephew Nathan is still a local mechanic in the South Bay. Aviation Cyclery in Manhattan Beach was opened by Dick Taylor who worked at Phil’s. Phil’s was then sold to Ray who ran it until recently, giving the business to his son David who now operates it. Check out that awesome neon sign!

Frank Schwinn figured out if you give a celebrity a bike you could get a picture of them with it. Schwinn would use these pictures for marketing and advertising purposes. Here is Elvis Presley receiving a Schwinn Racer with a special “hound dog” sign as a gift. Today would have been Elvis 88th birthday. Happy birthday, Elvis!

Hey everyone, Jack from Bikeorama here. I hope everyone is doing great. I just wanted to let everyone know Santa asked if we could stay late on Christmas Eve to help the elves out getting bikes assembled for everyone. I reluctantly agreed lol. So we will be open Saturday December 24th from 11 to 6pm for last minute Christmas shoppers. We still have a decent amount of kids bikes left in 12, 16, 20 and 24 inch.
