Interested in the history of elections in Texas, especially on the U.S.-Mexico border? We have as-new, unread hardcover copies of "WARM WEATHER & BAD WHISKEY: The 1886 Laredo Election Riot," published 35 years ago by Texas Western Press. The violent Botas and Guaraches rivalry is a relatively unknown aspect of Southwest history. Jerry Thompson’s book fills a huge gap in the history of South Texas and U.S.-Mexico Border politics and examines the political corruption that was (and some might argue still is) a way of life in Texas. Price: $35; includes shipping inside U.S. and sales tax. Pay via PayPal or Venmo or call with credit card info.
