Byrd Baylor was a great great lady. It was an honor to know her, laugh and tell stories together. She embodied all that is best in knowing deeply the desert, the border, the mountains, the animalitos, the women and men who walked these magical places. Besides, she was always the sexiest looking old women you'll ever wish to know and she had younger boyfriends who would gladly attest to that fact. She will be missed. We loved her deeply. We keep saying: in publishing we've met so many great people. Paul Von Drasek was one of the best. And a legend with a big heart in the industry. He and his wife Lisa Von Drasek befriended us ("adopted" would be a better word) many many years ago. They supported Cinco Puntos—truly, the greatest of loudmouth couples—and brought significant attention to the work we do. Lee and I will miss Paul tremendously, but we still have Lisa. We send her our most caring love. —Bobby

Paul Von Drasek, who worked in the sales departments at a number of publishing companies over the course of his 40-year career, died on May 16 at age 71.
