Warmer days are here again which also brings extra strain on your refrigerator. As your refrigerator or freezer begins to run more due to warmer conditions, it's important to place certain foods in different areas of your refrigerator.

Not all foods freeze at the same temperature. Vegetables and fruits are high in water content and will freeze faster than something like meats or dairy products. In a refrigerator that pulls freezing air from the freezer to provide cooling in the refrigerator, it's important not to place water based foods directly in front of the air vents. This can result in food freezing in the refrigerator.

You should set the temperature of your refrigerator at 38°F. Your freezer should be set to 0°F or below. If there is not a readout on your refrigerator that tells you what the temperature is you can place a thermometer in the refrigerator and come back later to check the temperature.
