And this is exactly why we love Evans & Davis - their leaders Bryan and Dustin are amazing people and they love and value others and their community.
"This week, we pulled some of our attorneys and staff together for training and process discussions.
As we got started, I couldn't help but laugh a little.
In 2002, Evans & Davis was just Dustin and me sitting around a table making decisions with a lot less experience and a lot more confidence.
Back then, if we wanted to change a process, it usually involved one of us saying, "I have an idea."
And the other one saying, "Sounds good."
Looking back, that system may have had a few flaws.
Twenty-four years later, we're fortunate to be surrounded by smart people who ask hard questions, challenge assumptions, and aren't afraid to tell us when there's a better way.
One of the humbling parts of leadership is realizing that some of your greatest successes come from letting go of the belief that your way is the only way.
Truth be told, many of the best improvements we've made over the years weren't our ideas at all.
They came from people who cared enough to speak up and make us better.
What struck me this week wasn't how much Evans & Davis has grown. It was how many people are now helping shape what Evans & Davis becomes.
That's a pretty incredible thing to witness when you remember where it all started.
Also, we have officially reached the point where we need bigger rooms.
And based on some of the feedback we received this week, Dusty and I may still need a little more training ourselves.
Don't tell the team I admitted that.
Feeling grateful."
