I had an interesting question. This is not aimed to embarrass anyone.
Question was " can you put less coats to save money"?
The key distinction is “can you?” versus “should you?”
Technically, a flooring contractor could apply fewer coats to reduce the upfront cost. But if the manufacturer specifies a minimum number of coats or a minimum coverage rate (for example, one gallon per a specified number of square feet), going below that requirement will compromise the intended performance of the product.
My perspective is reasonable, if you're already investing in having the floor professionally finished, it makes more sense to install it according to the manufacturer's requirements rather than save a little money upfront and potentially sacrifice durability and longevity.
