1931 Conn Transitional Alto Saxophone (M243382) – Silver Plate, Art Deco Engraving, Fully Overhauled
Offered here is a 1931 Conn Transitional Alto Saxophone, serial number M243382, presented in exceptional condition with original silver plate and a striking early Art Deco engraving.

Produced during Conn’s most innovative period, this instrument sits squarely in the transition from the New Wonder Series II into what would become the legendary 6M “Artist” model. These horns capture a unique moment where design, acoustics, and visual identity were all evolving simultaneously, resulting in instruments that are both musically and historically significant.

Fully overhauled and performing at a professional level, this is a premium example of a Golden Era Conn alto.

Engraving – Early Art Deco Pattern

The engraving on this instrument is a standout feature and firmly places it in the early 1930s Art Deco period.

1929 C.G. Conn New Wonder II Silver Plated Baritone Saxophone - Original Silver Plate, Gold Wash Bell
The late-1920s Conn New Wonder II baritones are among the great American saxophones of the pre-war era, known for their huge tonal presence, lush low end, and richly complex sound. This 1929 example is an especially attractive horn, retaining nearly 100% of its original silver plate with a naturally aged patina throughout and a beautifully polished gold wash bell that gives the instrument tremendous visual warmth and character.

Conn’s silver plated baritones from this period have a massive, orchestral voice that feels very different from later, more focused baritone designs. The sound is broad, resonant, and full of texture, with an enormous bottom end and the kind of tonal complexity that has made pre-war Conn baritones so desirable among jazz players and collectors alike. These horns can absolutely fill a room while still maintaining warmth and flexibility across the full range of the instrument.

King Zephyr Tenor Saxophone - Pro-Level Vintage Player, Strong Playing Condition
The King Zephyr tenor saxophone, serial number 263994, dates to the mid-1940s and represents one of the most refined stages of the Zephyr line before the full emergence of the Super 20. By this period, King had fully developed the Zephyr into a mature professional instrument - combining strong projection, a centered tonal core, and a responsive, flexible feel that continues to appeal to serious players.

Often considered a direct predecessor to the Super 20, these later Zephyrs share much of the same tonal DNA, offering a bold, full-bodied sound with clarity and control. For players seeking a vintage American tenor with depth and presence, the Zephyr remains one of the most compelling options in its class.

Condition

This instrument has been relacquered, with the finish currently in good visual condition throughout. While the relacquer removes the horn from collector-grade status, it presents cleanly and evenly, giving the instrument a polished and well-maintained appearance.

Conn 6M Alto Saxophone c.1934-1935 - Original Lacquer, Excellent Condition, Lady Face Era
This is a beautiful Conn 6M alto saxophone dating to approximately 1934-1935 - an especially desirable period in Conn’s pre-war production and one closely associated with the earliest M-series “Lady Face” / “Naked Lady” altos.

For many players and collectors, this is the Conn alto period that matters most. These horns occupy a special place in the vintage saxophone world for good reason: they combine classic pre-war Conn build quality, highly expressive tonal character, and a visual presence that immediately sets them apart from later production instruments. They are not simply old professional altos - they are among the most charismatic American saxophones ever made.

This particular example is especially attractive for its excellent original lacquer condition. The finish presents beautifully, with a rich, warm glow and a notably clean, well-preserved appearance throughout.

Conn New Wonder II Alto Saxophone c.1925 - Original Gold Over Silver Deluxe Finish, Scenic Engraving, Fully Overhauled
Few vintage American altos make an impression quite like this one.

Offered here is an extraordinary Conn New Wonder II alto saxophone, serial number 156291, dating to approximately 1924-1925 - one of the most desirable and visually arresting periods of Conn’s pre-war production. This is not merely a fine old professional alto, but a deluxe presentation-grade instrument: a horn built for the player who wanted the very best Conn had to offer, both musically and visually.

Finished in what appears to be 100% original factory gold plating over silver, this alto is immediately distinguished by its remarkable hand engraving, centered around a dramatic and unusual Native American scenic motif depicting a lone figure with a rifle gazing out across the plains. It is a deeply evocative image, beautifully rendered and unlike the more common floral or scroll engraving seen on many instruments of the period.

Frank Holton Bass Saxophone - Silver Plated, Conn-Built, Low Pitch, c. 1916
A truly extraordinary early American bass saxophone, this Frank Holton silver-plated bass saxophone appears, based on its Pat. No. 1,119,954 stamp, serial format, and construction, to be a Conn-built example produced circa 1915-1917. That places it among the earliest surviving low-pitch American bass saxophones built for practical ensemble use, and firmly within the formative years of large-format saxophone production in the United States.

Visually, this horn is stunning. The original silver plate remains 100% intact, with no wear spots, no buffing loss, and no visible silver loss, a remarkable level of preservation for any early saxophone and especially rare on a bass. Structurally, it is equally impressive: no soldering, no evidence of major past repair, and a body that presents in unusually clean, mint condition. In a category where many surviving examples have endured decades of hard use, repair, and compromised originality, this instrument stands out immediately.

1924 C.G. Conn New Wonder C Soprano Saxophone - Original Silver Plate, Low Pitch, Collector Grade
Among the most elegant and elusive saxophones of the American golden age, the Conn New Wonder C soprano occupies a fascinating space between musical instrument, historical artifact, and luxury object. Produced during the great flowering of early American saxophone making, these straight C sopranos were never common to begin with, and truly exceptional survivors have become increasingly difficult to locate. Offered here is a particularly distinguished example - a circa 1924 C.G. Conn New Wonder C soprano, serial number 126728, finished in what appears to be its original silver plate, and preserved in a state of condition that is genuinely uncommon.

At first glance, the appeal is immediate. The horn retains its full silver finish, beautifully presenting the refined visual language that made Conn one of the most admired makers of the era.
