We had an awesome surprise visit from who wanted to try her 5 string violin through our new gain pedal. Things really start to hit about 30 seconds in. The chords sound absolutely incredible! We also had the distinct pleasure of handing her a Healer, the first electric guitar she’d ever played :). Many thanks to Will for stopping by and introducing us to Sophie before their show at the Iron Horse last night. Make sure to follow both of them to see more awesome playing and instrument work. The pedal is called the Receiver, made with our friend Ryan and we’ll talk more about it soon.

Here’s the Growler that I made before Open Studio’s back in November. I’ve had a board of Spalted Red Maple around for a few years and was patiently waiting for it to air dry. I picked a few of the best sections to make the neck and top and got right into re-sawing it for what turned out to be a pretty stellar bookmatched top. The neck has the straightest grain of the entire 9ft board.

Growler necks now have a scarf joint that starts under the transition to the neck and extends nearly half way through the length of the headstock. You can see it a little more clearly with this maple more than in mahogany. This layout avoids the hard line you can sometimes see in a traditional scarf joint, giving the back of the headstock a more unified, clean look in my opinion. The longer joint and increased material under the nut should also allow for a stronger headstock.

The Safe-T Post Kluson Deluxe tuners increase the break angle of the strings over the nut as well, which compensates for the lower headstock angle. I used Macassar Ebony for the fretboard and head cap with Mother of Pearl inlays. The body is chambered Mahogany with ivoroid binding around the top. This is the most transparent burst I’ve pulled off to date, drawing inspiration from vintage Kay’s and Silvertone’s. The dark tortoise guard, pickup rings, and backplates contrast nicely with all the parts.

25.5” scale, 10” radius fretboard, 1.625” nut, 104 x 47 Jescar fretwire. 550k pots, Lollartron’s (best humbucker ever?) Black teacup k***s play off the black lines of the salting. Mojave wraparound with 1” threaded bushings. Thin satin nitrocellulose lacquer, open pore style.

This one went home with my friend and long time client a few days after the event. Matt had a 2018 Growler for a while that now lives with Luke from and I’m glad he found this one. He’s been making a new record with it down at too.

I built this Growler for the in LA and sold it here at the shop a few days after it arrived back home. As much as I would have liked it to sell there, I’m thankful to my client Thom who recognized that this was the one for him and called me 20 minutes after he left the shop.

When I started picking a color for this one we’d just had a 1950’s Gretsch in the shop and it had an amazing forest green metallic and a gold guard. Turns out I didn’t have the right paint around but I had Antique Pelham Blue which mimics the aging of an aged Pelham nicely. Added a few drops of the green that I did have and here we are. Topped off with a gold backed acrylic pick guard too. With the addition of some T90’s I got to what I was looking for and they’re some of the loudest, fullest single coils I’ve ever heard.

Here’s the specs:
Chambered Mahogany body
Pine Top
Mahogany neck, .84-.94” thickness, C shape
Indian Rosewood fretboard and head cap
25.5” scale, 1.625” nut width
Ivoroid binding and inlays
Mojoaxe Wraparound bridge
TV Jones T90’s
Acrylic pickguard, gold back
ViP 250k Pots
Kluson Deluxe Safe-T Post tuners
Gloss and satin Nitro

This is one of the 13 guitars I completed in 2025. From here, I’ll go back through the last year and then 2024, and a few before that.

First Healer or 2026 delivered safely to CA. This one is for my old friend Anthony / Our bands played way back in the late 90’s and early 2000’s. I’m always thankful for the connections made back then between the Providence, RI and CT scene’s.

I’ve been doing more bolt on Healer’s as of late, and this is a good representation of what I’d call the standard features with a gloss finish. This is the first candy apple red finish we’ve done as well and I hope to do more red guitars this year, super psyched with the look with the tortoise guard and of course the matching headstock. The traditional nitrocellulose lacquer is from in Canada. Easy to get, amazing color selection. The back of the neck is finished with tru oil over shellac.

Woods are roasted pine and roasted maple and the body is chambered. Whole guitar is around 6.25 lbs thanks to the light weight woods. We continue to use the and bridge as our go to vibrato set-up. Function and tone make them our #1. Locking tuners are Gotoh SD91’s, pickups are humcancelling P-90’s.

25.5” scale, 10” radius Indian rosewood fretboard, 1.625” nut, 47 x 95 fretwire, C shape neck, .84-.92”

Thanks Anthony!

Last Saturday I saw a story here from a guitar maker friend in Turkey named Mert Demir, , which showed the flood damage in his home and I messaged him right away in hopes of finding out more. The coastal region he’s in experienced multiple days of rain and his whole life has been turned upside down by this disaster. So far, they’ve been out of work for a week and there aren’t any local services that have reached out to help.

I started this Go Fund Me in hopes of getting him and his family (with kids ages 2 and 7) a little bit closer to normalcy until any other funding from insurance might come through. We have an amazing community of guitar makers and repair people through The Looth Group and beyond, here on IG, that are so supportive with sharing knowledge and encouragement, and I hope we can all come together to help Mert during this difficult time.

Any amount will go a long way to help with the flood recovery. Thanks for your consideration! Read more in the GoFundMe page which is linked in my bio and

I’ll be showing guitars in Anaheim next week and would love to see you there! The event is open to the public on Friday 1/23 and Saturday 1/24 from 12-6 with evening concerts starting at 7pm. Get your tickets in advance!

Hosted by and this show is self described as “most definitely not a corporate trade show”… right up my alley!

I’ve done my best to make two guitars that represent what we’ve been making lately, and one special homage to two of the early SoCal guitar manufacturers. I’ll have the shop Healer bass along as well with some freshly upgraded pickups and the built in fuzz.

Psyched to see some pals like

and can’t wait to meet and see so many more!

What a fun morning! Turns out its way better to run in a group than by yourself. I ran the 5k in 35:45 which feel great for a newbie, and Ben did 27:08. The younger side of the Healy Guitars team, came in between 19-22 mins! Oh to be a kid again.

Thanks to all who donated! Together we raised $858 for Safe Passage and 18 people put money towards the raffle. The WINNER for the free Set-Up is William Grem! Reach out with your contact so I can send over the Gift Certificate.

Congrats to for such a wonderful event supporting survivors of domestic violence, and raising $891,205. And the hot chocolate was delicious too.

I’d like to let you know about a special event that we’re hosting on Saturday November 1st from 10am-5pm here at the shop during OPEN STUDIOS with our neighbor Dan of . If you don’t already know Dan, he repairs all manner of Tube Amplifiers and makes a great 100 watt head called The Amulet, and he’s right down the hall in Suite 052.

Nocturnal will have Massachusetts based pedal makers , .audio , and with demo boards of their products that you can play through with one of his guitars, or you are welcome to bring your own. The awesome folks stompboxsonic will be there too with a display/demo board of pedal brands that they sell and boards that they curate.

I’ll have two other luthiers displaying their work along side my own. Steve Balkun of is from Simsbury, CT and  Nate Lord of is from Amesbury, MA. They both make instruments in their own style and offer things outside of what you might be used to seeing from me. Nate will also have some of his line of pickups for sale too. We used his IKE split coil mini humbuckers on some recent guitars for The Music Emporium too and really loved them. We’ll have amps and headphone stations set up so that you can test things out as well.

Last but not least, Ake Stromer of will also be joining us from Brooklyn, NY with his pedal offerings. We’ve been digging his SUPERFUZZ for the last couple of years and I even put one of his Tremolo circuits in my Healer, which is also around to try.

Bring a friend and we hope to see you there!
