Eleanor Roosevelt is coming to town! Join us for a special living history presentation at the Gallery. Free of charge, donations are encouraged. Please call to sign up and reserve your spot (last year's special presentation was a full house). Light refreshments will be served afterward.

August has been rolling along like the waves on Lake Huron, with the Gallery offering classes and events for all ages. Things continue to roll on with more classes this month and into September. Classes range from traditional art to unique artistry. Check out our offerings - we have fabulous teachers, Gallery members as well as guest artists. (Just an FYI: It's possible Megan Swoyer MAY be teaching another class in September. Stay tuned for more details - we will post when we know more.)

We have a special raffle going right now. This chest was handmade by our master woodworker, Bob Golka, and. hand painted by Colleen Sheffer. This is a nice sized piece, measuring 20-1/2" wide by 12-1/2" high by 12" deep. Come in during our Small Works event this Friday, Saturday and Sunday, and get your tickets to enter the drawing to be held on September 7, Labor Day.

Art isn't just about painting or sculpture; there are many different methods of creating an image, and we teach some of those. One unusual method is called "gytako", a very old Japanese technique used by fishermen to document their catches. Long-time member Shirley Glenn imparted this knowledge to a full class this week. It looks like everyone enjoyed themselves (and yes, that is a real fish).

Yesterday the Gallery partnered with Friends of the Lighthouse to host our rock painting class. It was open to all, and we enjoyed a great turnout. Best of all, everyone had fun and came away with souvenirs of their visit to the Point.
