Let’s use this absolutely beautiful vase gifted to me by Andrea August-Smith for my birthday to create a whimsical gorgeous garden inspired arrangement. Yesterday was such a sad day in our house with Stephanie leaving. After I got the kids to bed, I spent some time by myself making this arrangement. Creating and designing it helped me to step away from the difficult day and just be present with the flowers and the creative process.

This has been a very emotional week for our family as we said goodbye to our amazing au pair Stephanie yesterday. She has been with our family for the past year and a half, helping to care for Jackson and Cooper while we work on the farm and both work full time in medicine, but she also became an incredible part of One Fun Gal Flowers. Many of you have probably seen her around the flower shed, chatting with customers or helping me in the flower fields. She loves flowers and gardening and she became some an integral part of our lives.

Yesterday afternoon Stephanie headed home to Brazil to finish her college degree. While we are so excited for everything that lies ahead for her, our hearts are also incredibly heavy. She has become such an important part of our family, and saying goodbye has been especially hard on the boys. We spent much of yesterday giving extra hugs, snuggles, and reassurance as they processed saying goodbye for now to someone they love so much. There were a lot of tears and we all feel heavy.

Everyone wish her all the best!!! We are going to miss her so so much.

Many of you have probably seen Kayla around the farm over the past 2 years. Kayla is a wonderful human being and a talented floral designer. She shares a love of gardening as well. She has encountered some significant health problems secondary to her achondroplasia (dwarfism). She is unable to work and is going to need extensive spinal surgery in the coming months. Let’s surround her with support and love through this difficult time in her life.

Enjoyed a lovely evening last night teaching an intimate vase arranging working using all flowers from our farm. I had the pleasure of celebrating a wonderful matriarch’s birthday. Everyone did such an incredible job and the arrangements were stunning.
