The Desert Inn & Hotel Before and After…💔

The Desert Inn and Restaurant in Yeehaw Junction, Florida was a historic roadside motel and restaurant that traced its origins back to the late 19th century, serving early travelers, cattlemen, and lumber workers and later evolving into a bar, diner, and motel known for its quirky charm. The building was added to the U.S. National Register of Historic Places in 1994 in recognition of its long role in local transportation and business. After closing in June 2018 due to declining business and preservation efforts, the structure was heavily damaged in December 2019 when a semi-truck lost control and crashed into the building, collapsing a large portion of the building and halting restoration plans. The damaged Desert Inn stood in disrepair for years, and after a change in ownership and continued structural issues, it was demolished in late 2024, ending its 130-year presence as a recognizable Florida roadside landmark. Today, the land now sits completely empty.
