Sweet sweet redemption!!

Our trip four years ago this week is started this crazy desire to eat, breathe and sleep in the sands of the river. We had a game plan, did our homework, but above all left it up to the man upstairs.

History worth sharing. 🦌

Late October. Can’t get any better.

Andy actually has some history with this buck, chasing him for the majority of the pre-rut and rut last year. It seems this buck’s range happens to be on this particular piece during that time of year.

Andy headed out for a run-and-gun hunt that morning and had some great action throughout the day, including some does. Later in the morning, a spike started blowing at him, and Andy actually tried to get the deer to move off. In all the ruckus, the big buck of the area must have gotten curious enough or heard the commotion and came in to check it out.

Andy watched the deer move from 50 to 40 yards, which took the better part of 15 minutes, before making a heck of a shot. The deer didn’t go very far at all.

An excellent morning in the deer woods and a crazy annual pattern on this particular buck, nicknamed Beams!
