What are you having for breakfast this morning?

The beginnings of metabolic problems often start long before any diabetes diagnosis appears. Even in people who look and feel healthy, carbohydrate-heavy breakfasts can trigger prolonged high insulin levels after the meal.

A small study found significant differences in post-meal insulin responses among people without diabetes. Meals higher in overall carbohydrate content produced greater and more prolonged insulin elevations — a pattern linked to postprandial dysmetabolism (elevated insulin lasting longer than ideal).

Food choices shape how your body handles insulin over time. Many people find that a protein-and-fat focused breakfast (think eggs and bacon or similar) supports steadier insulin responses compared with higher-carb options.

Something to consider as you plan your morning meal.

**Stay tuned — we’ll be sharing more about how supporting healthy insulin responses can play an important role in both how you feel today and how well you age over the years.
