On this Memorial Day, No Dirt Golf honors and remembers the brave men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our country. Because of their courage, dedication, and selflessness, we’re able to enjoy the freedoms we so often take for granted, including the simple privilege of spending a day on the golf course. Today, we remember the heroes who gave everything so we could enjoy moments like these.

Rickie Fowler didn’t win at Quail Hollow, however, it still felt like one of the biggest stories of the week.

A final-round 65 pushed him into solo second at the Truist Championship, but the reaction around golf said more than the leaderboard did. Crowds were fully back behind him. The energy felt different. And afterward, Fowler admitted the week reminded him of 2012, when confidence and contention felt normal instead of difficult to find.

For the first time in a while, he looked comfortable again under pressure.

After years of missed cuts, swing changes, ranking drops, and trying to rebuild his game publicly, this week felt less like a random high finish and more like momentum returning.

We broke down why Fowler’s runner-up finish felt much bigger than second place.

LIV Golf hired investment bank Ducera Partners to build a long-term capital strategy, which means one thing: LIV is no longer operating as an unlimited, single-source funded league. It is preparing to stand on a real financial structure.

Since launching in 2022, LIV has been backed by Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund, allowing it to move fast, sign top players, and build a global schedule without the normal business constraints. That model created disruption, but it was never built to prove profitability.

Now it has to.

Ducera’s role is not marketing or format. It is financial. That includes exploring outside investors, restructuring how the league is funded, and building a path where LIV can operate more like a traditional sports business.

This comes as questions around post-2026 funding continue to surface. LIV has not confirmed any changes, but bringing in an investment bank signals preparation for multiple scenarios.

BREAKING: LIV Golf’s future is now in serious question.

Reports say Saudi Arabia’s PIF will stop funding LIV Golf after the 2026 season, which could effectively end the league in its current form.

Right now:
- 2026 season is expected to finish
- LIV is reportedly seeking new investors
- events have already been postponed
- players are already looking at paths back to other tours

Without PIF funding, the LIV model becomes extremely difficult to sustain.

What started as golf’s biggest disruption in decades may now be heading toward a forced reset or a complete fold.

At one point, Ben Griffin had quit golf, taken a corporate job, and stepped away from the game entirely.

Two years later, he was back on the PGA TOUR.

Here’s that story…

In 2021, he stepped away from professional golf entirely. Burned out, in debt, and done with mini-tour life, he took a job as a mortgage loan officer and walked away from the game.

Golf wasn’t part of the plan anymore.

Then came a conversation that would change his life forever.

An introduction to Doug Sieg, CEO of Lord Abbett, turned into something real. Sieg believed in Griffin’s game and offered to financially back his return, removing the biggest barrier most players face at that level.

From there, it wasn’t immediate.

Griffin went to the Korn Ferry Tour and rebuilt everything. His competitive rhythm, decision-making, even the ability to have his A game across four rounds.

The results soon followed:
– playoff loss at the NV5 Invitational
– contention at the Butterfield Bermuda Championship
– enough consistency to earn his PGA TOUR card

By 2023, he was in the field at THE PLAYERS, less than two years after leaving the game.
