Spent a few days last week knocking out an order for a local hat shop. Squeeze blocks and brim blocks cut to precise dimensions. Batch work can become monotonous but it sure does fly.

Another map done and out the door. This one of the Triple Bypass bike race in Colorado. Used some slightly exaggerated vertical scale to make the mountains more prominent and it turned out killer. Highlighting the route and the 3 mountain passes with the laser engraver has always been the most difficult part, but I have a system and it’s working really well. Cant wait to make the next one!!

Made a quick batch of coasters for our family condo. Figured I’d make them in walnut to match all the walnut accents throughout. I gotta say they look great on that table!! Check out my website for more info.

Latest map is done and headed out of the shop today. A larger version of my Park City ski areas map that shows and and all the lift lines. This map also has two custom markers that signify two special locations for the owner. A long time ski enthusiast that bought property there in the 70’s. Truly love making these maps and love the stores they tell!

Made this sweet map for someone as a Christmas gift. A custom route of Californias Death Ride. Complete with route detail, elevation and location of 3 mountains/ passes, and a custom elevation chart. This was a great project to work on develop what my final product will look like. Cant wait for the next one!!

Holidays season in the shop this morning. Busted out 47 boards for holiday gifts and the upcoming I’ll be attending. My hope is to have this stack routed, sanded, and laser engraved before I leave for Chicago at the end of the week. Time is short and I still have a few more ski maps I need to make.

I’ve been busy working on my holiday schedule and getting work done on my CNC. Despite that I had some time to knock out some baby gates for a client that really needed them. Nothing too special about the first gate, the second gate took some figuring out. Both gates have double action hardware and self closing spring hinges. Perfect for kids and dogs!!

Making this map was fun and I enjoyed every minute of it. It’s of Kalalau Beach in Hawaii, a special place for a dear friend of mine and her husband. Made from 4 sheets of 3/4 birch ply the map has a depth of 2.5” and the ocean is filled with custom colored epoxy. The frame is made from walnut plywood with a maple box frame and maple map legend. All around this project came together really nicely I’m super proud of how it turned out. Map is roughly 18x18 and total size is 24x24.

A big 18x18 map is in the works. Only 12 more hours to go and I’ll have a a map ready for some epoxy and a frame. I’m going all out on this one setting it in a walnut frame and laser engraving some details. Hopefully it turns out the way I want it to,and will be a pretty accurate representation of future final products.
