Dear Sir or Madam
My name is Ginny Jewell and I am the co-owner of Acorn Books. Acorn Books is a new and used bookstore set to open this summer in Dover, Delaware. My business partner, Marie Shane and I would like to thank you for the opportunity to share our story. We are the former management team of Atlantic Books. As Atlantic Books closed, Marie and I listened to the public's concerns and outrage that Kent County would no longer have a bookstore. In fact, there would not be a bookstore from Christiana to Rehoboth.
We thought about what that would mean for our community and especially our children. Where would our children learn the importance of books? Where would our teachers go for their needs? Where would all the kids get their summer reading books? We thought about how the world seems to be moving faster and how people are connecting less. Would we lose the culture of books and bookstores altogether? What about intellectualism and free thought? We just could not see it happen in our community....hence, the birth of Acorn Books.
Marie and I are in the midst of the start-up of Acorn Books. In the process of securing our financing we were asked a question about you. "If the public were given the opportunity to purchase from you, would they?" Based on our experience with Atlantic Books, we believe the community would support us, but rather than answer for you, we wanted to share our ideas with you and give you the opportunity to share your ideas with us.
Books make a difference in our children's lives and we hope to be a part of that. We would like to work with local schools and teachers to plan field trips, story times, and rewards programs. We will also offer entrepreneurial workshops and strive to develop working relationships with local teachers to promote literacy.
If this sounds like an idea you would like to support, we encourage you to put that support in writing. Your thoughts and concerns are what matter. If you would like to join us in bringing our community together in a way that promotes good citizenship and community as well as promoting literacy please send your letter of support to any of the following addresses.

Thank you so much for taking the time to read our story. We look forward to learning yours.
Sincerely,
Ginny Jewell
