Don Dexter Gallery is hosting another installment of the Indigenous Film Series with a free screening of the film "Remaining Native," Wednesday, Sept. 9 at the Hult Center for the Performing Arts, City of Eugene!

About the film: Ku Stevens (17) is the solo runner at his high school with no coach. Living on the Yerington Paiute reservation in Northwest Nevada he needs more to be seen by his dream school, the University of Oregon. As Ku trains, unreconciled emotions unearth the memory of his great- grandfather, Frank Quinn. At 8 years old, Frank ran 50 miles across the desert to escape an Indian boarding school. Frank’s story becomes interwoven with Ku’s journey to run a collegiate qualifying time. Will Ku outrun his history or will he learn to run in parallel with it to achieve his dreams?

🔹 6 p.m. — Doors open. Come early and visit the Hult Center’s Contemporary Indigenous Art Gallery.
🔹 6:30 p.m. — Artist Don Bailey will offer a brief talk about Crow Foot Runners, his monumental four-panel work currently featured in the Hult’s Contemporary Indigenous Art Gallery, and the history and stories behind the work.
🔹 7 p.m. — “Remaining Native” film begins.
🔹 Following the Film —Stay for a virtual conversation Q&A session with Ku Stevens after the screening.
