Many people have walked in - and commented on the big black cat “devil” painting by local artist Lorraine Kline! Her own words below on how these paintings came about.
“Devil” , This classic black cat painting embodies the trope of “evil black cat”. Yet, this rendition speaks to the duplicity of the meanings and the affectionate term, “little devil”. Creating a fiery scene with his presence, his regal stance commands respect . Always tempted by sweet black cats, my rescue cat, was my “Devil” and forever will hold my heart.
The pit bull mutt, so often pegged as a “bad dog” whom is truly an “Angel”, floats among this ethereal scene. Her sweet disposition is reflected in her deep brown eyes. She encourages one to “do the right thing” and see past prejudices to the heart of the matter. This rescue “Angel” will always be looking out with love.
Together the two paintings are a whimsical play on words. Reflecting on the endearing pet names for the “Angels” and “Devils “ in our lives.
