So long, friends!

I just closed the door for the final time here at Van D**e Books. I want to thank you for these past 3 years of laughs, smiles, and friendship. When my family bought this old, boarded up, uninhabitable building back in 2023, we never would have imagined what wonderful, interesting people it would’ve brought into our lives. That has been the most rewarding thing about running this bookshop. Currently we plan to hold onto the building, and we’re talking to a number of different businesses that are considering moving into the space. We love West Village, so we’re going to find the absolute coolest one! You won’t be seeing my or my wife’s face behind the counter anymore, so I can only hope that in our time together we were able to bring as much joy to you as you brought to us. Farewell, my friend.

Today is our second last day of business! Come in and buy one and get one free of equal or lesser value. We’re open 10 AM to 5 PM today and tomorrow May 30 and 31st and then we’re gone!

Our final going out of business sale has been postponed! We’re pushing it back to next weekend. Our final sale will be May 30 and 31st Saturday and Sunday 10 AM to 5 PM. Everything will be 50% off. I hope to see you there!

A while back we were a little late in sending someone an online order, so we added an additional book to his order that looked like it was right up his alley. A few months later, he send us this letter and a book to return the favor. It’s these moments that make it all worth while.
