Today, we pause.
Not for the sales. Not for the long weekend. Not for the cookouts or the lake trips.
We pause for those who never made it home.
“In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row…”
* John McCrae
Memorial Day is stitched into quiet moments. Folded flags. Empty chairs. Stories told at kitchen tables. Names engraved in stone and carried in memory. Loved ones that are now memories.
At DSM Foundry, we spend our days creating pieces meant to preserve places, moments, and memories. Today reminds us there are some memories far bigger than ourselves. Sacrifices that shaped the freedoms we often move through without thinking twice.
“We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved…”
To those who served and gave everything, thank you feels impossibly small, but we say it anyway.
May we remember well. May we live worthy of the torch passed forward.
Be Found. Remember Well.
