Tonight is our Boards of Canada listening party! From 7-8 pm, you can stop by to hear the new album and purchase a copy before it goes on sale Friday. Plus, we have secret bonus packs and keychains to give away as well (while supplies last). No RSVP needed… just stop by any time & chill out with us.

We’re slowly, but steadily, getting the new arrivals section restocked after a busy holiday weekend. Here are a few that I just put out at 10am. There will be a lot more on the way over the next few days, though!

Quick housekeeping for the weekend:

1) Zzz will be open regular hours Saturday & Sunday, but closed all day Monday, May 25th for Memorial Day.
2) Our weekly box of new releases & special orders is currently stuck in Florida, unfortunately. I’m assuming the gators or pythons or mosquitoes have stolen it, but we’re waiting for more information. So if you didn’t get a call today from us, please be patient.

While cleaning out the storage room, I found a large box that I labeled “Good, but duplicate CDs 8/3/2024”. Here is what I found inside.

Totally unrelated… the 2nd picture is a “Do Not Buy” list from a used CD store probably 20-25 years ago. 🙂

We almost forgot to mention that the button lamp was restocked a few days ago! This is about 25% of our current stock.

Heads up… DART, the local bus system in the Des Moines Metro is going to be changing their routes starting one month from today. As of now, bus routes #11 & #60 currently serve our store. However, starting on June 14, we will now be on the routes for buses #4 & #5. It looks like both lines will be coming through approximately every half hour, but since there are two separate lines going by, the wait time will usually be closer to 15 minutes.

With higher gas prices hitting this spring, I know some of you have been looking at alternate forms of transportation… and DART is definitely an affordable option. All day bus passes are still just $4. Want a cheaper option? I am a big fan of the bike paths up and down Ingersoll, and use them quite often. And we have plenty of space to safely lock up your bike while you shop!

Mark your calendars—All new bus routes will begin on June 14, 2026. We're replacing our current routes with ten main routes that run more often, 7 days a week, on the busiest streets of the Des Moines metro. The new network offers:

We're very excited to announce that Boards of Canada is releasing their first album in 13 years. We're even *more* excited that Zzz Records will be hosting a special listening party on Thursday, May 28th. Starting at 7pm that night, we'll be playing the new LP, with copies up for grab before it officially goes on sale the next day. AND, we'll have some special giveaways while supplies last.

I'll add an official facebook event for this soon, but there's no need to RSVP... this will be informal, but a lot of fun!

If you’re a 45 collector, this is the perfect time to stop in. We’ve cleaned up and realphabetized the whole section (it’s been a while). The majority of our 7” singles are still priced at $2 or less, too, so this is a perfect spot for those of you on a budget.

We have a lot more to add over the summer months, so keep checking the new arrivals row for more!

We don’t have a ton of new releases going out today, but we do have the new Foo Fighters on CD and LP. Noah Kahan is already sold out, but we’ll have more coming in soon. Also, we now have a couple of late arriving RSD titles: Gaby Moreno & Gigi Perez.
