They're growing fast! The buds on are now approximately 1 1/2" long and starting to take on the magenta color of the outer petals, and will eventuall grown up to 10-11 inches in length. We've counted seven blossoms on one plant and five on the other, for a total of 12-a very auspicous number that represents the harmonies of Yin and Yang energies! ☯️

All our regulars know that we love plants-of all kinds! So we are happy to share the news that our Dutchmans's Pipe Cactuses, also known as Princess of the Night, Night Queen, and Tan Hua (Epilyllum Oxypetalum), are sprouting multiple tiny buds that will soon grow into spectacular flowers which will only blossom once in the dark of night!

Originally found in Mexico and Guatemala, these unique plants were imported to China in the 1600's, where they became so popular that witnessing the opening of the flowers was considered a sacred event, regarded as bringing luck and prosperity to anyone who witnesses this one-time phenomena!

We'll keep you all updated as they get larger and the big night approaches!
