Today’s feature: Morel Mushrooms
Morel mushrooms are usually found in/near dead or decaying trees, they thrive in damp, moist and wooded areas. They are defined by their distinctive appearance, having a honeycomb like ridging texture with a hallow interior and the cap is attached directly to the stem.
These mushrooms release a toxin that causes “gastrointestinal distress” (Fungi Perfecti) if they aren’t cooked all the way through. Surprisingly these mushrooms are rich in vitamins C and D which helps strengthen immune system function and increases bone health.
These mushrooms are created for you in two different styles. There’s option 1, with a longer stem and shorter cap. Option 2 is a short stem with a longer cap. Stay tuned for these to be available on the HCC website!!
