Friends, this is BearClaw and he needs your help!
He needs and MRI of his brain and, even with discount for the rescue, it will still be just over $2000.
Found outside of Fort Morgan, in a woodpile, all alone, his rescuers knew he needed help. ARR took him in and he was bottle-fed around the clock while resting safe and warm in our incubator. He grew strong and healthy with quite a charming, but impish, personality. His future family watched him grow and fell in love with him via his foster mom's Facebook posts.
Everything was great...until 2 days before he was scheduled to go to his new home. Our volunteer noticed he was having some trouble walking. Since this had come on so suddenly, without any explanation, he was taken to the neurologist for an exam. Watchful waiting was the original prescription since he seemed completely well other than his newly acquired wobble. It was described as if "his hind legs belonged to a drunken sailor." They kept slipping out from under him and he would fall down. After some weeks of watching, the good news is that he hasn't gotten worse...but he hasn't gotten better either.
His new family is undeterred and already in love with him...but we can't finalize his adoption without knowing what could be wrong with him. There were many scary sounding possibilities including a stroke, a degenerative brain condition called cerebellar abiotrophy, an infection...and several more possibilities.
If he never overcomes his wobble he will be loved and happy forever. But the responsible thing to do, and what is recommended by the neurologist, is to get him an MRI so that he can be appropriately treated.. or left to his wobbly self if nothing more sinister is happening in his little brain. Could you please donate to help little BearClaw get the medical treatment he needs? He, and all of us, would be eternally grateful. Thank you!
