Using my pastels once again. I can’t remember how many times I tried to paint this specific nebula. I thought pastels or using a different medium besides watercolor will do the trick. Of course, this time I blamed the low quality of the blackboard even after I sanded it and repainted 😂.
Liked it at the end and I hope you enjoy this video.

I originally bought the exclusively for travel and because life keeps me at home, I decided to start using them. One of my goals this year is to use what I have and “master” them. If you own them you might feel a bit of a challenge working with this type of product because they are mineral dyes and not pigments and it is a different monster to domesticate. You will see me using Peerless more often, the results are always beautiful. 🥰

If you have been with me long enough, you will know how hard is for me to paint spirals. 😁 For this reason, I am always practicing finding a way to create them the easy way and with different techniques.
These two spirals are far from perfect but WOW! I'm posting them because the difference between blacks is stunning. You can tell which one is the from , and which one I used a black pan watercolor. Not even using a black concentrated liquid watercolor gives me this black.
Next time I will use normal acrylic black paint and compare the three together.
To blend acrylics with watercolors I watered them down and I start building the color. Just like watercolors. I used black only as a background.

This is a video I recorded a time ago when and myself collaborated on a giveaway. Is no secret that I love her fiber optic brushes and love her as an artist.
And… I know the part of darkening the spiral is too slow but I hope you take this at least as an idea or as an inspiration.

I hope you had a great Holiday and now that is over I am focusing on getting ready for the next year and loving the idea of using the Kanban system (Japanese project manager) to get all my tasks/projects or to dos moving along. I created two quick holiday-related paintings, I could not invest so much time in them, my Mom is visiting and she takes priority, this is the first time I see my Mom since the beginning of COVID and I am so grateful to have her, each second with her is a blessing.
I am hoping you liked the idea of these two paintings which happens not to be my idea. After I finished I did a bit of research, a “Christmas Tree Nebula” indeed exists and has almost the same vibe as mine. There goes my creativity and originality. 🤣
