What you need to know about Amendment 64
Thanks to the recent passing of Amendment 64 and Gov. Hickenlooper signing it into effect on Monday Marijauna is now legal in the city of Denver, sort of. Here are a couple of things you should know about how this Amendment effects you.
Amendment 64 makes it legal for adults age 21 and over to possess up to an ounce of ma*****na in the city of Denver. It is also legal to grow up to six plants at a time so long as only three of the plants are ready for harvest at a time. It is up to individual counties across Colorado to decide whether Amendment 64 will apply in their borders, however. So be mindful of the laws in your specific county.
While the passing of this Amendment has made it legal for people to have ma*****na at the state level, ma*****na is still a schedule I controlled substance at the federal level. This means that smoking up on any federal property such as our beautiful national parks is still a federal crime. It is also still illegal to sell ma*****na unless you are a liscensed shop, which will not exist until July at the earliest, and the medical ma*****na business will be kept as a seperate entity from the recreational business. So you cannot wander into any shop and hope to pick up some product. As of right now they will tell you to turn around a walk right back out without a red card.
There are some things you should know about where you can smoke as well. Namely, that it is still illegal to smoke in any public space, even places where smoking ci******es is acceptable. Since Amendment 64 does not allow for public consumption of ma*****na, it is unlikely that any"pot shops" will open without changes to the legislation.
Ma*****na policies still remain at the discretion of your employer, so it is ill advised to partake if your employer is not receptive since you will not be protected under Colorado law.
We at Secret Stash hope this helps to clear up any confusion over what you can and cannot do under Ammendment 64. This policy remains an evolving issue, and we will try to keep you aprised of any changes as they come about.
