Years ending out great, fall colors, found some corn s**t mushroom which ended up being the most interesting mushroom I've ever eaten. Made some homemade cider from locally picked apples, with the help of friends was able to watch Lord of the Rings in a mountain cave, an idea that has been floating around in my head for a few years. Checked Hawaii off the list, never got around to filming this meteorite ring I made a few years ago, so here it is. Garden harvest was great for tomatoes and peppers this year but not so great in other crops, still nice to grow some things. Beautiful day for a hike up in the snow.

Summer in Colorado, lots of foraging this year and some good hiking and fishing, I've made pinecone syrup, Lindon tree chocolate, found some Boletus Rubriceps mushrooms, hoping to find some chanterelles and matsutake this year as well as a few other things on the list.

People always wonder how long it takes to make a knife and that is a really difficult question to answer. This one took me a little under 3.5 hours from design to finish without including heat treat time or epoxy cure, (30 min design, 30 min grinding, 30 min acid wash process, 1 hr handle wood flattening, shaping and pin cutting/assembly, 30 min hand sanding, beveling, oiling and cleanup, 20 min sharpening/blade oil soak. it's rough ground, acid finished, so limited polishing, but the acid etching takes a little more time. Now if I didn't care about acid wash or handle sanding and the materials/design were ready I could get it done in around 1.5-2 hours. It's all in the details,process and materials. A knife of the same size could take an hour, day, week or months to complete depending on those factors.
