HURRY UP! LAST DAY TO SAVE! The time has come my friends to talk of many things. When I started this business 3 years ago it was an exciting adventure and a breath of fresh air after an incredibly stressful and depressing job situation. That lasted for maybe a hot minute because then we went directly into a global pandemic and then into a major social reckoning and its corresponding unrest. The shop opened in the middle of all of that. It’s been a bit of a crazy ride full of fun and not so fun learning curves. The truth is I am burned out and it has started affecting my mental and physical health so, something has to give.
I realized about a year ago that the business had to change directions and realized about 6 months ago that I also had to change *how* I ran my business. I feel really pigeon holed being a solely historical based company. It doesn't feel like me and I don't think it makes the most of what I have to offer. I realized that while the garment making community is generally divided into those who do historical and those who do modern, that for me it's more fluid. Garment making is garment making there's just different tools in your toolbox. Because ultimately, I am a designer not an historian and a pragmatist, not a purist. I spent too long in theatrical costuming and in the fashion industry to be otherwise.
I love history and historical dress. But I love modern fashion too. But what I love the most is mashing it all together and making something new. Something that has a deeper story to tell about the maker. This is the direction I will be focusing on both in social media and marketing content and in what is available in the shop. I hope you will stay with me on this journey. I would love to have you along!

TLDR; I will be closing the shop starting January 9th and not re-opening until Spring (date TBA) in order to overhaul the website and inventory and to do that in a way that works for my well being. For the last Hurrah! Everything in the shop will be 40% off this weekend only. Starting NOW! No code needed. Discount will be taken at check out. There is a special circle of H*ll that is all Black Friday advertising.

It's gross. And it feels even more gross as a small business and feeling like I have to run a BFCM sale just to keep up. I also realized that my feed is currently all sales posts. I don't ever want to push things on people. Pushy sales is my cue as a customer to exit stage right.

So what gives with all the sales, Zadie lady?

The shop will be shrinking in 2023. I prefer "becoming more curated and will only be the best stuff that you really love." The sales are my way of saying thank you for the last 2+ years of support. Most of the items in the shop will no longer be available in 2023.

Here's the rundown:

Clearing out and curating allows me to keep stock fresh and interesting, possibly seasonal, and focused on what you want - like bringing back items you have asked for. Hello, h**p cottons and linen lace!
It also allows me to streamline my packing and shipping operations and opens up space not only in my studio but in my head. (Hi. It's me. I'm the problem. It's me.) More on the personal reasons coming soon. In the meantime, go stock your stash!

Small Business Saturday is coming a bit early this year so that I can spend the holiday weekend with family and friends EVERYTHING IN THE SHOP WILL BE 20%OFF UNTIL DECEMBER 15. (No code needed) THERE ARE GOING TO BE BIG CHANGES COMING AND A LOT OF THE INVENTORY WILL NOT BE COMING BACK IN 2023. So now is the time! SMALL BUSINESS REALITY CHECK: I forgot how stupidly long it takes to create new product pages. So, I didn't get it all up because I also have adhd and cannot judge time very well. I did get some silk and linen thread and snippy things up though! (But there's no copy. If you have questions I am happy answer them).

NEXT WEEK will be the final week of this sale. The missing studio stash items and a special bonus will be the name of the game. What will be? I'm a woman of mystery, what can I say! You'll have to stay tuned to find out!
