A great visit with Pam and her son Travis at Jugtown pottery. Vernon was off on errands but his older brother, Bobby was there relaxing in a rocking chair. Bobby loads kilns and mixes glazes. Bayliss , daughter of Pam and Vernon was taking care of her chickens. She is the one who makes and decorates her pots with animals. Went to see the 3 ground hog kilns, fired 3 times a year, several gas kilns and the old equipment involving a mule that was used to make clay. We talked about the Cole family, who I visited so many years ago. Nell and her brother , Waymon, were pottery legends. Their glazes were stored in cast iron bath tubs but after they died no family member carried on the Cole pottery. . .
