FIG TREE SALE!

Trees are one year old, 3 to 5 feet tall $30 each

Varieties available:
Chicago hardy
LSU Gold

May produce figs as early as next year.

Fig trees like their roots constraint so they are a great potted plant and move into a sheltered cool area in the winter.

Also great to be planted next to a south facing wall and heavily mulched in the fall.

It's about time to uncover your fig trees if you covered them.

Looking back over the winter, there was an unexpectedly cold night of -7 degrees F. There may be more winter damage than in most years.

As I mulched my Fig trees heavily, if the growth above ground is dead, the tree should bounce back but may be delayed waking up.

Good luck growing figs! I will have young Fig trees available again in a few months and I may have a few Asian Pear Trees this year.

Happy holidays!

This is how I cover my fig trees for the winter.

1: Prune.
2: Thick mulch around the base.
3: Cover with burlap.
4: Tarp.

I covered them Nov 21st this year.

I will uncover the trees 2 weeks before the last frost.

This is a small experiment I am trying here on the Cape. I have planted 10 fig trees (7 different varieties) out in the open. I have spaced them 8’ apart in a 10’ spaced row. I will keep updates here on this account. Thanks again for following, more to come soon with figs ripening here in about a month
