Announcement:

We will be undergoing a name change in the near future. The Free Shoe Closet will soon be the Community Shoe Box. As such, the big sign out front has been removed for redesign. The shoes are still here and the community is absolutely still welcome to come by! Laminated signage with the old name will remain up on the porch until new documents can be printed.

Additionally, this page will no longer be used, and a new one will be created. Link will be posted when that happens.

Sorry for the confusion!

Hi, community!

We will be bringing out the Spring/Summer shoes from storage here, shortly. Please feel free to bring any sandals, water shoes, and open toed shoes by any time! And please hang on to any snow boots until the weather gets cold again, as we have very limited storage and display space. We do accept rain boots, hiking boots, and steel toed boots all year round though!

We are in need of more bags. Our Amazon wish list can be found here. If you prefer to shop in person, the sizes we need most are quart and gallon sized zip top bags.

Okay, so I did not get inventory finished this weekend. Most of the donated shoes are on the shelves, now, but the rest will have to hang out inside. I ran out of bags, so I'll finish up when I get paid and can order more. If you would like to help, we accept donations. The style bag we prefer, and the sizes we need, are listed on our wishlist. Ordering from this list sends them straight to us. We also accept in person donations. Just place them on the purple shelves.

Also, there was a delay in pick up for shoe recycling, so there is still time to drop off your unusable shoes!

Hello everyone! Here's a few bits of useful information about how we operate.

• We are a no-contact, free resource for shoes, available to anyone who needs. If when you visit you require assistance to access, please send us a msg ahead of time so we can make appropriate arrangements.

• We are located at 612 Haish in Dekalb, on the open front porch of a private home. Please feel free to come by anytime during daylight hours and check out the selections. Please keep in mind that this is a private home.

• Thank you so much for all of the donated shoes. Donations can be dropped off any time during daylight hours. We are currently not able to use winter boots. Please save those back for cooler weather months.

• We appreciate other help too! We have a pressing need for zip-lock type bags used to sort and display the shoes. Unfortunately, ordinary zip-lock bags aren't big enough, but the kind we use can be purchased on Amazon.com. Please consider visiting our Amazon.com wish list (LINK BELOW) where we also list additional items that help us prepare shoes for display. Purchases from there can be shipped directly to us, or you can drop them off. Thank you so much! We cannot accept cash donations.
