🚨 Cresco Fire Cats — Help Needed 🚨
We are in the process of removing a group of cats from the site of a fire in Cresco. We will be temporarily housing them in a volunteer’s screened-in room until they can be evaluated, vetted, and either fostered and adopted or released.
We’re doing our best to quickly turn this space into a safe temporary shelter, and we could really use community support.
Needed items:
• Tarps / weatherproof covering
• **Chicken wire or hardware cloth**
• Totes with lids, crates, or kennels (for hiding and safe containment)
• Cat trees and toys
• Food & water bowls
• Litter boxes or shallow totes, litter scoops, and cat litter
• Cat food & kitten food
• Bedding (old towels and blankets)
• Cleaning supplies
• Or anything else you think might help!
We’re also looking for people with handyman skills who might be able/willing to help with some quick repairs or maintenance. One section of the room is currently missing a screen, so we’re working on a safe temporary fix—possibly covering that section with a tarp or plywood, and potentially reinforcing the entire enclosure with hardware cloth or chicken wire. If anyone has better ideas or is able to help, we’re all ears!
Once the Cresco cats are safely moved out, we hope this structure can continue serving as a temporary seasonal holding space for cats waiting for TNR appointments or foster/rescue placement. We’d also love for it to become a reliable drop-off option for stray or found cats to help make rescue and intake efforts more efficient and successful.
Thank you so much for your support. We’ll also include a donate button below to donate toward the Cresco cats through Camp Companion, and we also accept Venmo and PayPal. 🐾
