As of today, August 10th, I will not accept any new custom framing orders. Behind the Glass will be open for order pick-ups only, through Friday, September 1st. It has been a pleasure working for our customers and friends since 1997.
Where do I begin to explain the end of this chapter in my family’s lives and mine? I guess the best place to start is to say thank you. Thank you to all of you who were willing to give two 20-somethings a chance and the privilege of working for you as your custom framers for the last 26 years. Gavin had a dream and a talent he loved to share through our business and that in turn became my dream too. We were blessed with the ability to raise our two daughters while we worked hard at living the dream of starting and owning our own frame shop. While doing that we met so many wonderful people whom most have become friends and many are like family to us. After Gavin’s death in 2020, I took time to decide what my next step would be. With prayerful consideration and many months of wrestling with my thoughts, I realized I was ready to close Behind the Glass and pursue a new career. My plans were to close at the end of this year and look for a new job, but God’s plans were different. I have recently accepted a job offer to work for Decatur-Morgan County Tourism and will begin my new position as Group Sales & Special Events Director in early September.
I apologize for the short notice, and I will be sure to take care of all current orders placed and will be in touch with you once your orders are complete.
Thank you to all who have supported our little shop and our family through the years. It has been an honor and a blessing to operate our store on Bank Street alongside the many merchants who we were privileged to meet and watch as their businesses grew and succeeded. Self-employment and being a business owner is not for the faint-hearted, but the relationships, experiences and opportunities we had were well worth the rollercoaster ride!
With gratitude,
Leigh Ann
