Some moments just hit different…

Feeling incredibly fortunate to spend time with an amazing crew while working on the short film Scorcher. Mike behind the camera and Jake on the bow made this shoot one I won’t forget—great people, great energy, and a shared love for the water.

Scorcher highlights a handful of local guides and the incredible native smallmouth fishery we have here in the Upper Midwest. It’s about more than fishing—it’s about the stories and the people behind it.

One of the most meaningful scenes is post-fishing beers with the Tight Lines crew, where Bart Landwehr shares a story about the legendary Flip Pallot.

Flip changed the face of fly fishing. A true pioneer who inspired generations to see more in the experience than just the catch. We lost him tragically last year, but his legacy lives on in all of us.

We miss you and love you, Flip.

To all my fellow fly fishing guides—

On my way home from a trip that’s going to take a while to fully sink in. We had the chance to fish alongside some incredible guides, old friends, and a few seriously talented musicians… the kind of week you wish you could bottle up.

Somewhere in the middle of it all, this little gem of a song hit me in a way only a long-time guide can understand. Robbie… man, you absolutely nailed it.

There’s a lot more to come from this one—stories, moments, and probably a few things I’m still trying to put into words. Truth is, this trip was something I can’t even fully describe yet. Gonna let it soak in a bit.

I’ve been fortunate to meet and fish alongside some of the very best in the world, and I can honestly say I can’t think of anyone doing it better than Brandon Bailes.

Brandon, this piece you created for Bear’s 18th birthday absolutely blew us away. You didn’t just tie a fly—you captured something bigger. You saw who our kids are, the way they live outdoors, and you turned that into art.

This is hands down one of the finest pieces of work I’ve ever seen, and it means more to us than you know.

Thank you for your talent, your thoughtfulness, and for making this milestone even more special

The Great Waters Fly Fishing Expo is almost here and it’s hands-down the biggest fly fishing gathering in the Upper Midwest. Every year anglers from all over the country head to St. Paul for a weekend packed with gear, seminars, fly tying, casting instruction, travel inspiration, and a whole lot of fishy camaraderie. The expo runs March 13–15 at Hamline University and supports the great conservation work of Minnesota Trout Unlimited.

But if you’re looking for one of the most fun gatherings of the entire weekend… Saturday night is where it’s at.

CABIN FEVER – A Celebration of Fly Fishing is going down Saturday night from 7–10 PM at 106 W. Water Street in St. Paul. It’s a free evening filled with fly fishing art, good hangs, a cash bar, and a film premier showcase that brings together anglers, filmmakers, and storytellers who live for this stuff.

We’re especially fired up because Tight Lines Fly Fishing Co. will be featured in the film “Scorcher” showing that evening. It’s always pretty special seeing our home waters, friends, and the stories from our little corner on the big screen. 🔥

If you’re coming to the Expo during the day, make sure you save some energy for Cabin Fever Saturday night. It’s the perfect way to cap off a great day of fly fishing talk, new gear, and old friends.
