Last year, I gifted each of my kids a year of books on their birthday. This year, I plan on doing the same. I’m excited to keep this tradition going and watch them open a new book each month ☺️

The best part of this gift is that it doesn’t have to be expensive. Most of these books were thrifted throughout the year, and I set them aside with this future gift in mind! Here’s to another year of reading 📚

Today I had the privilege of gifting each of my AP Literature students a book as a parting gift. I spent the last month thrifting for books that reminded me of each of them. Then, I tucked in a favorite Mary Oliver poem, my own poem, and a bookmark.

Every year, it’s hard to say goodbye to another set of stellar students but I can’t wait to see what they do in the future! ☺️

For as long as I can remember, I told my kids “I will always make sure you have as many books as you can read.”

Fast forward to summer library trips, thrift store adventures, and Barnes and Noble outings for ALL the books. Every bookshelf in our home is stocked to the max. They are so full that I decided to wrap up a surprise book each month for my kids as a birthday present, a tradition that I will continue each year. Even though the shelves are overflowing, books are a staple here.

This winter break in particular was filled with non-stop reading in the coziest places and I loved every minute of it. Watching my oldest read with our dog on her lap or my youngest try out different character voices was priceless.

As for me, I’m constantly reading a little bit of everything (including Before I Forget, which I love so far!) but my heart is so full watching my kids love reading. I happened to stumble across a few pictures and videos of them reading over the years, and I was transported back to so many memories and so many favorite books - The Princess and the Pony, The Three Billy Goats Gruff, Dragons Love Tacos, Ida Always, and so many more.

Reading is pure magic and I am living for these slow, cozy reading days with my children ❤️

Today my freshmen helped me finish wrapping books for our upcoming holiday giveaway at school. We have nearly 70 books wrapped and ready to give away to students in December 📚

Thank you again for your support; funds from my fall sales helped me purchase many of these books, and the rest were donated by generous colleagues ❤️
