In 2025, Rolex tightened its grip on the luxury watch world.

The Crown lifted sales 4% to more than CHF 11 billion (~$20 billion AUD), despite producing 2% fewer watches. It sold around one million pieces and accounted for roughly a third of the entire Swiss market, according to Morgan Stanley and LuxeConsult’s annual report.

The study found Swiss brands made just 14.6 million watches in 2025, half the 2011 total. Yet prices keep rising. Watches above CHF 50,000 (~$92,000 AUD) drove 89% of growth while representing only 1.4% of volume. Rivals like Cartier, Audemars Piguet, Patek Philippe, Omega and Richard Mille remain dominant, but the balance of power is clear. Luxury is shrinking in volume and soaring in value. Collectors and dreamers will have opinions.
