Do you know the rules and regulations?
Ride Smart. Ride Safe. ⚡🚲
As warmer weather brings more people outdoors and more students, families, and visitors travel through Downtown Davis by bike, e-bike, and e-scooter, we wanted to help share an important community safety initiative from the City of Davis and DJUSD.
Downtown Davis is one of the most walkable and bike friendly communities in California, and keeping it safe, welcoming, and enjoyable for everyone takes all of us working together.
This month, the City of Davis and its partners are encouraging the community to “Ride Smart. Ride Safe.” by helping educate riders and families about e-bike and e-scooter safety, California regulations, and safe riding practices.
A few important reminders as downtown gets busier this season 👇
🛴 E-scooters are not allowed on sidewalks
⛑ Helmets are required for riders under 18
🚦 Riders should follow traffic laws and posted speed limits
⚡ Devices exceeding 28 MPH are not street legal in California
👀 Riders should stay alert, predictable, and visible while traveling through streets and paths
As a downtown district filled with restaurants, shops, events, outdoor dining, and community gathering spaces, pedestrian and rider safety directly impacts the experience of everyone who visits Downtown Davis.
We encourage businesses, residents, students, and community members to help spread awareness and support safe riding habits throughout May.
Together, we can help ensure Downtown Davis remains vibrant, connected, and safe for everyone 💛
