A full day of all things Ben & Jerry’s. Each camper will make a tie dye tee shirt, homemade ice cream, create a waffle cone, decorate cookies, tour the store, and learn about Ben & Jerry’s history, what fair trade is and why NON GMO matters. We will end the day with Ben & Jerry’s trivia and prizes. Pack ice cream for Friday custom cakes!!
TUESDAY
Davidson Public Library is bringing back the lost art of letter writing. We will do a scavenger hunt through the library, play games, read a book (written in letters, of course) and learn how to write a letter. The lost are of writing, addressing and stamping envelopes. Each child will get their very own library card! We will mail our letters and end with a tour of the Davidson Post Office to learn how letters get from here to there.
WEDNESDAY
This chess class is taught by author professional chess instructor, and director of Over the Chessboard, Jessica Martin. We will focus on basic rules and strategies of the game, including special rules such as castling, promotion and en passant. We will also discover exciting tactics such as pins, forks, and skewers. Chess has been proven to improve critical thinking, academic scores, & risk/benefit analysis, even with very young players.
THURSDAY
Yarn Day at Hearts on Fiber! We will be learning about the chemical reaction of wool and silk with Kool-Aid. We will experiment with different Kool-Aid colors on yarn and fabric. Then we will make pom-poms! Each camper will go home with some creations!
FRIDAY
The final hurrah! Decorate your own Ben & Jerry’s ice cream cake and take it home! Learn different styles of cake tips, how to color icing, different types of toppings and how to write on cakes. Everyone will take home their ice cream masterpieces to share with their families.
*Lunch will be provided by the Soda Shop each day, select menu will be available prior to camp. Campers are responsible for providing their own water bottle and snack
