Last night, I made it into the Top 20 for the Super Mom competition.

Honestly … this one feels different.

Everything I’m building—Sweetbirds, the long nights, the risks, the pressure—is because I’m a mom first. My kids are the reason this business exists at all.

There have been a lot of times this past year where I had to keep going without knowing how things would work out. Despite this, I kept building anyway.

So this isn’t just a ā€œTop 20ā€ moment for me—it’s a confirmation that something I’m fighting for is actually being seen.

No matter what happens next, I’m proud of how far I’ve come—for them, and for everything Sweetbirds is becoming.

Now - ONWARD!

Mango Pastry Composition:

•Valrhona Opalys White Chocolate shell
•Vanilla Bean CrĆØme Pat
•Fresh Mango Confit
•Passion Fruit Ganache
•Vanilla Cake

These are layered with different flavors and textures. The chocolate shell gives a satisfying snap that leads into a creamy layer of luscious and light sweetened vanilla bean patisserie cream. The mouthfeel is silky. The flavor is sweet and balanced with intense vanilla flavor. I use fresh Madagascar vanilla beans to infuse the cream and then split the pods to add those deep warm vanilla notes. Next is fresh mango confit which is a fresh mango purƩe that has been cooked down and slightly sweetened to add that intense fresh mango profile. To balance the tart confit, is a passion fruit white chocolate ganache. The silky tropical ganache brings a cashmere mouthfeel while balancing the punchy mango perfectly. All of this, atop a simple beautifully flavored French vanilla cake.

I exclusively use Valrhona French chocolate couvertures in every pastry. It is my choice brand for producing high-end results. Fruit is always fresh and always local (when possible and practical). At Sweetbirds, my ingredients matter most.

Behind every Sweetbirds creation is something much bigger than treats.
I’m a mother of four, building this business from the ground up. I have one goal in mind—creating a life of stability, security, and opportunity for my children.

Recently, I decided to participate in the Super Mom competition, once again. I finished as a quarterfinalist in 2024 - maybe 2026 will hold something special.

To me, this isn’t about a title. It’s about representing what it really looks like to show up every day, push through setbacks, and keep building anyway.

Sweetbirds exists because of my children. Every late night, every early morning, every challenge I’ve worked through—it all ties back to them.

This weekend presented some unexpected production challenges due to weather conditions that directly impacted product quality.

At Sweetbirds, I make everything by hand and hold a very high standard for what I put out. Weather conditions compromised that standard and, despite real-time adjustments, the ideal finished product was simply not possible to produce.

I communicated this as clearly as possible considering the timeline and enlisted in the help of a mediator who invested many hours assisting with communications. I appreciate those who were understanding and supportive.

That said, I will not be engaging with or tolerating disrespectful comments or reviews from individuals who were not customers. Constructive feedback is always welcome—misrepresentation is not.

Sweetbirds is built on quality, transparency, and intention. That does not change.

Thank you to those who continue to support and understand what goes into a small, one-person operation.
