Nice afternoon on the lake.
Going to have to wash my kayak tomorrow..
A ton of pond scum.
Got off work right at 4:30, was on the water by 5pm.
It was hotter than a m**h pipe on payday!
Holy smokes!
At least there was a little breeze.
Started out Pitchkng a Bass Assassin Logger Toad over the pond scum and slow retrieving it back.
One nice blow up but it missed the lure completely, knocking it out of the water. Awesome blow-up, lack-luster results!
I then threw a white and yellow Z-man Chaterbait with a Bass Assassin Icicle Logger toad trailer.
No bites early. A couple of small nibbles right at sundown.
Next I was pitching a Live Target Common Shiner 5” Swimbait. No hits on this one but the action of the bait is awesome. They were just not hitting anything deep.
Next was the Bass Assassin 7.5 “Bang Lure”
Tapout Candy Bug.
This is a 7.5” Plum colored with blue flake worm.
I rigged it Texas rig with a 1/8 Oz bullet weight.
This worm was fire this afternoon.
I worked it super slow around the w**d lines.
The light weight and the action of the work kept it off of the bottom and out of the grass.
I would pitch it up into the w**ds and jiggle it out into the open water.
Once it hit the water and dropped the fish were attacking it.
Had probably 10 hits on it in the first 20 mins I had it tied on!
I need to get some sharper hooks. All but four came unbuttoned.
Got back to the launch and had some inconsiderate Gator hunters parked their pickup and Boat trailer on the grass launch!! The launch area is only about 6 feet wide. Everything on either side of it is w**ds and muck.
Had to wade in Hip deep water and pull my kayak through a ton of sawgrass and cattails in the pitch dark.
The whole time I was wading, I was praying there were no snakes or Gators around. In the dark, in dirty hip deep water, in the w**ds was not where I wanted to be.
I am thinking of taking the kayak somewhere this weekend, just not sure where I want to go. Or which day I can do it. I am thinking Reds, Specks and Flounder??? Need to find where they are and go after my first inshore slam of the year this weekend.
Caught plenty of Reds and specks just no flounder yet.
