I pickled a couple of jars of Magnolia petals from our tree back in April. Today, I finally sampled them. I’ll admit I was skeptical and wondered if I had wasted my time but, wow! They are surprisingly so good! The texture and flavor are remarkably similar to sushi ginger.
I served them alongside an Asian ahi tuna steak salad with mango, lime, and chamoy. Yummy and healthy dinner. I’ll definitely be adding this one to the “make again” list!

If you have an adventurous palate and love to cook or experiment in the kitchen, I highly recommend giving these a try!

Just wanted to pop in and say hi and let everyone know we’re doing well. I’ve had several messages checking on us because of the tropical storm headed our way, and I truly appreciate it.

We’ve already had a lot of rain lately, so some of the backroads have started flooding…..and Arthur hasn’t even passed over us yet! Some forecasts are calling for another 6 inches of rain over the next 48 hours.

We may lose power, but thankfully we have a whole-house generator that will kick in if needed. It is what it is, and we’ll be fine. We’ve weathered plenty of storms over the years, so this is nothing new for us.

That being said, thank you all for checking in and thinking of us. ❤️

Meanwhile, skies are absolutely wild and beautiful right now! 😍⛈️

Instant serotonin boost! ❤️

It worked for me, so I figured I’d pass it on. 😀

Good morning from our little slice of God’s country! 😍☕️

We woke up really early today to get some work done before the heat kicks in… high is forecasted at 96 with real feel to hit 105 with humidity. And…. it’s only mid June! 🥵🫠It’s also rainy season down here so more thunderstorms on the way later.

Anyhow, I am finally enjoying my cup of coffee and walking around the property. The rain will force me to catch up on cleaning inside the house and finishing my unpacking, laundry, cooking, prep for week ahead, yada yada. I hope everyone has a wonderful day and enjoy what is left of the weekend!

It’s hard to believe that less than 72 hrs ago I was wearing Italian linen, sipping espresso, and strolling the streets of downtown Rome. 🇮🇹

Life changes fast! 😂

I’ve made several batches of homemade pesto, canned pickles, and whipped up a lentil rice cucumber & tomato salad. Found a huge nest of duck eggs so need to make a quiche. Now, we are getting caught up on some farm work …Jeremy on zero turn while I w**d whack and push mow. It was so hot and humid today so had to wait til evening for the manual labor. Looking forward to a dip in the pool later. 🥵

Hope everyone is having a great weekend! 🙌

Back in my happy place and resuming the farm grind over here. 😬

After 23 days away from the farm, I finally made it home last night. Europe is beautiful, and our trip was absolutely amazing, but there’s nothing quite like being back home sweet home.
I was hoping to sleep in this morning, but my dogs had other plans. They missed me so much that I was greeted with pooch smooches at the crack of dawn!

I’m definitely feeling the effects of sleep deprivation and jet lag. It’ll take me a few days to get adjusted and caught up on everything around here, but I’m hoping to be back to my regular farm updates by next week. I’ve missed you all!

While I was away, my garden certainly wasn’t taking any time off. This morning, I bolted out of bed like a little kid on Christmas morning to see how everything had grown. I can’t wait to share the updates with y’all! 🌱❤️ 🏡
