Traditions Custom Rods started off as a dream between my father and I during one of our many fishing trips together a few years ago. Like any other fisherman, we bought our share of fishing rods, but were never truly satisfied with what we could buy off the shelf. Either the action was too soft, the length too long, or the overall weight too heavy. But, we persisted and used what was available fro

m the major manufacturers at the time. In 2013, I was introduced to the world of custom rod building. It was then that I was introduced to different custom rod builders and saw that there was a whole other world of rods that I never knew about. Since then, I have been creating my own line of rods, selling to both friends and family. The enjoyment of using a rod that was specifically hand-crafted for me and my style of fishing, using premium parts, far surpassed anything that I had ever fished with before. I want to share this passion with you and help you enjoy the sport of fishing the way that I have with my father. I’m not a major manufacturer, mass producing rods and selling them in the big-box stores. I hand craft each rod, individually, one at a time, testing for ideal weight distribution between the handle and tip, guide placement and alignment, as well as making sure that my thread wraps are tight and even and that my epoxy work is clean and consistent. Let me work with you to help design your next rod and start a new “Tradition” in your family with a rod that you will be proud to hand down to either your son or daughter. Another "Traditions" done! Batson Rainshadow Immortal IMMP70ML cut down to 6'9". Batson titanium guide train, Fuji SK2 seat and custom cork grips. It's been paired up with the JDM version of the Shimano Aldebaron 30HG.

A rebuild I completed this morning. I built this rod 4 years ago, but when I did I wasn't happy with the reel seat, specifically the threaded barrel positioning. When the reel was locked down, an inch + of threaded barrel showed up front. I decided to go ahead and remove the barrel this weekend and scraped it clean and then repositioned it to better sit where only an 1/8" of threaded barrel showed when locked down.

I also removed all the thread wraps from the lower assembly and redid them all.

This rod is a Sarge Customs "Smooth Dog" blank using Fuji Torzites for the guide train. It's been paired up with a Shimano Core 50mg to complete it. The reel seat is a Matagi SK2 painted metallic red.

Well another rod in the books! Unfortunately I wasn't able to get final pictures as it's owner swung by the house to pick it up as soon as I got home!

Specs:

Blank - Rainshadow CB70M in white
Guides - Alps TI-LXNZG series guides in size 8 stripper, 6 transition, and size 5 running guides with matching tiptop
Reel Seat - Fuji SKTS16
Grips - Standard cork grips
Thread - ProWrap 210 color fast with Fuji white nocp.

ThreadMaster High Build epoxy was used on this build as well.

It felt great to finally get another rod built after all this time.

Well it's about to go down! I'm getting back up on that 'ol horse and am going to build myself a little something special this next week.

A very special thanks to Adam Lathrop for another beautiful reel seat. That anodized red looks killer!

Components:

Blank - Batson/Rainshadow IMMP70ML
Guides - Fuji Torzites
Reel Seat - Custom painted Fuji SK2 by Mach2Customs. The barrel was also custom cut before painting it in "anodized red".
Matagi winding checks in gunmetal & I'll be custom turning a cork/micarta butt grip.

This rod will be paired up with a Shimano Stradic Ci4+ 1000 series spinning reel that I'm planning on using on freshwater fishing trips.

Another "Traditions" in the works...

Castaway CXML67 blank, black eva grips, Matagi "Vintage Platina" SKTS trigger seat. Going to be paired up with the 13Fishing Inception reel when it's all done.

Thread will be Bullard "Black Coal", Fishhawk "Charcoal" and Electra Red.

Should have this one completed in the next day or two.

Another "Traditions" delivered, this time to a dear friend for Christmas!

Batson IMMP70M with custom turned pecan grips and a Matagi SKTS16 reel seat in gloss black with Matagi gold winding checks to match. Alps titanium guides in size 8 stripper with a size 6 transition guide with size 5 running guides was used as well.

Another "Traditions" done just in time for Christmas! A Batson Immortal IMMP70ML cut down to 6' 9" with custom turned mesquite wood grips paired up with a little Matagi trim and a regular Fuji SKTS seat. Recoil guides to finish it off with a Fuji Torzite tiptop. This rod was built to be paired up with a Shimano Curado 50e.
