Now that the Surging Sparks reprint is finally here this weekend. Do you think it will make waves in the market? Or do you think it will have a similar effect to other reprints we have gotten over this last year? There wasn't much interest in the Blastoise and Venusaur box, and I have heard people say surging is a "mid" set. But I wonder if that mindset is because of the limited availability of the set? Some people's opinions tend to sour towards things they can not have.

This week's card of the week is Skarmory Illustration Rare from Surging Sparks. The art has grown on me the more I look at it. It reminds me of something from an old sci-fi comic or something. Very retro futurist vibe. On first glance it looks like this pokemon is chilling on a couple of 70s style campers in a wasteland where the sand took over ala Mad Max or something.

I was pretty happy when this came back in a 10. Happier still the pop was low (300 at the time). The pop is now nearing 2000 but with the way Surging has been printed I have to wonder how many 10s will actually be produced when all is said and done. What do you think?

This week's card of the week is Leafeon ex Special Illustration Rare from Prismatic Evolutions. I pulled this card myself from an Accessory Pouch Collection and it hasn't left my personal collection since. Leafeon has sort of attached itself to me as my "Eeveelution". It seems like lately whenever I open a set that contains one I am often sure to get it. I think as far as chase cards go across all languages for modern sets, I am only missing the "On a farm" VMAX one.

A couple of pickups I made at yesterday's Cars and Cards hosted by and . Was a pretty good time. I hope there will be more events like that in the future as I love both of my hobbies coming together like that.

1997 was a long time ago.. I am in awe at the condition of this card. Even if it might be some rip and ship recent pull. It still had to survive the entire time in this condition. While in its pack waiting to see daylight. The only thing holding it back from perfection is a nasty print line on the top of the artwork.
