Regarded by many pundits as a candidate for Bourbon of The Year, ’s Rare Perfection 10YR, a 3 barrel micro-blend, clocks in at 130.7 proof and is a pour rich with flavor. We tasted RP10 at the distillery last week and used a pour as a control during the RP10 pick with and his crew to make sure the pick was up to par. , in his article in Forbes, said it best: “Sometimes, a good blend can challenge your palate to find faults where almost none exist. This is one such example. It may even approach perfection.” RP10 is a darn good pour that leans sweet (powdered sugar) and fruity (cherry, apple pie, peach preserves) with a long finish and a red hot candy pop.

Released first at the distillery, RP10 has started to land in select markets, including DTX. Do you plan to hunt one down? 🫡

When in Louisville for a bourbon trip, you do one thing — Go! Do all you can, and walk a ton to keep your metabolism going, ha. That’s what we recently did on our recent trip.

Breakfast at Mammy’s is the key to a successful day. We visited Bardstown for a wheated pick and a Green River wheated pick in Pete’s Place. Thanks to .metcalfe for hanging with us!

We then visited and picked a great COTW barrel, followed by a Rare Perfection 10YR collaboration pick with the great and his crew. ….a RP 10YR. 💪🏼 Thank you Shelby and Rachel for your hospitality. , we’ll have to run it back soon! And we owe you guys after yall shared an epic Boiler Hill hazmat rye. 👏

Can’t visit Louisville without visiting and . At T&E you can try the first of its name Sakura unicorn made by PS — it is raspberry poptart and strawberry cake mix all day. Delicious! Venture to the speakeasy in the basement of Hotel Distil for a nightcap cocktail. End Day 1.

The next day, an epic pick of .de.luxe at Starlight with Turner Wathen (great to see you !) followed by a tasting with Ted Huber himself. 🫡 First, the BDL picks that will eventually drop on Seelbach’s are an instant buy; we tried them 😂. Second, Starlight’s Batch 4 Mizunara, the 10-11-12 year blend and the Sakura finished barrels are all bangers. Be on the lookout for those!

A visit to Peerless for a pick, a visit to Michter’s for cocktails and a tasting, dinner at and hanging with at — made for a super strong evening. End Day 2.

Before heading to the airport, a quick stop at — Batch 19 of OC is a banger — and running into at the airport made for a nice send off.

And we can’t forget visits to , , and dinner at . What. A. Trip. Stay tuned for updates on these picks, two of which will be online releases. 👊🏼

What spots did we miss? We’ll add them to the next trip. Cheers! 🥃

Our barrel picks dropped this past Saturday at the Spec’s Dallas Superstore and were gone in under two hours. 👏 Thank you to everyone who snagged a bottle of these unicorns from Still Austin. 🦄

Named “Brisket” and “Ribs”, these picks are both over 7YRs and 5MO old, with “Brisket” being a couple of months older than “Ribs”. “Ribs” clocks in at a slightly higher proof than “Brisket”, and has a hint of spice that is so very nice. And not only did y’all get a great pick, but approximately ten dollars of each bottle will be donated to Spec’s Charity of the Month, Best Friends. Thanks, ! ❤️

Why did we name these picks after barbecue? Well, before heading to do the pick, we ate at Terry Black’s in Lockhart — absolutely delicious BBQ! A few hours later after we had selected these two barrels, the pick team brainstormed on names and landed on “Brisket” and “Rib”, paying homage to the epic TX BBQ we had that day. We aren’t short of great BBQ spots in the DFW area. To name a few, , (the Dallas location is featuring SA this month), and , are all fantastic!

We hope you enjoy these picks and pair them with your favorite BBQ. Cheers, and thank you for your support! 🥃

What does TX BBQ have to do with bourbon? 🤔

Our pick team ventured to last fall for a barrel pick and the Blue Corn distillery release. On the way to the barrelhouse we stopped in Lockhart and ate at — brisket, ribs, sausage, all the things. We had a great time picking a barrel and actually landed on two epic barrels, both over 7 years old 🔥🤯🫡. We named the picks “Brisket” and “Ribs” to pay homage to the greatness of TX BBQ.

Massive thanks to and the entire crew for letting us pick these old barrels. 🙌

These are dropping soon. Stay tuned! 👊🏼

*** All gone!

Big moment for Texas bourbon enthusiasts!

The first ever single barrel of Dettling Bourbon in Texas has officially landed at . 👏

Dettling Bourbon is an Alabama craft whiskey known for its rich, cask strength single barrels, innovative multi-grain mash bills, and Alabama climate-driven aging that delivers deep color and intense flavor. We’re lucky to finally have a barrel in Texas and very much appreciate this barrel coming to Dallas.

Selected by Seth Dettling, this single barrel clocks in at 117.48 proof and is just over 5YRs old. The mash bill is 70% corn, 15% rye, 12% oats, and 3% roasted malt. Rich notes of vanilla, caramel, Dutch chocolate, with the expresso and some English to***co are what you’ll find in this gem of a barrel.

Thank you to and for sending this fantastic barrel to Dallas and . We appreciate yall! Everyone that snags a bottle will enjoy it. 🫡

Drops here have been 🔥 lately. The drops land here on the 3rd week of every month and this week was no exception. The great Weller107, the Gold Top WSR, Blanton’s and ER — it’s hard to pass on any of these.

On another drop note, word on the bourbon streets is there is something dropping next week and it’s the first of its kind in Texas. This drop may set the local community ablaze! 💪🏼 When we get more info, we’ll share it in our stories first and then post here. 👊🏼

What new bottle did you snag this week?

Happy Hunting! 🥃
