HANGING UP MY SPURS

It has been a great run but I am beginning to think it is time to wind down. I have thought about this before but then a few of you will come up to me at the show and tell me how much you appreciate what we've built. The comments are always sincere and meaningful so it has been the catalyst to doing one more.

When I say what we've built I mean YOU and me. You folks have been the greatest! Your attendance and support of the North Texas Comic Book Show has truly made it what it is today. My appreciation for you as a fan cannot be properly expressed. The show has become a nationally recognized regional event and has a great reputation among the creator community.

The show, as it stands today, has surpassed anything I thought it would become when I got it up and running. The guests that we have been able to host have been a virtual who's who of comics. Where it will go from here is yet to be decided. If someone emerges that wants to carry the torch forward then it may continue. Honestly, I'd hate to see the show die but I may not be capable of carrying it forward.

I will not be doing a summer show as I shared with a few of you this past weekend. I have not decided about doing another February show yet. I may try and blow it out one last time. I'll keep you updated.

Sometimes a Thank You requires a special post. That is the case with Daniel Calhoun. As he will tell you, and he seems to tell EVERYONE about the show, he kept coming to the show so I hired him. He has been the face of the show for a long time. When you arrive he is there to greet you and get you started on your con day. Over the years he has been one of the most trusted people that I have worked with. Daniel, I didn’t forget you, I wanted you to be specially recognized for helping to make the North Texas Comic Book Show special. You have been my main man for awhile and I have always been able to count on you.

The February 2020 North Texas Comic Book Show has come to a close.
A lot of thanks to the following:
OUR VOLUNTEERS - the best and most professional volunteer group at any convention, period! They help everything run smooth and keep our guests happy.
OUR FANS & ATTENDEES - thanks for supporting the event and making it a show that artists and creators WANT to attend. There is never a shortage of comments from our guests on how gracious and friendly you are.
OUR GUESTS
We have had the good fortune to have the best in the business attend our event. It’s been a pleasure to work with them all.
OUR DEALERS
Thanks for putting your faith in the show and participating to offer some of the best items around.
JACOB LONG - longtime left hand man who helped take our Cosplay contest to the next level and was responsible for maintaining an orderly shuttle and food service for our guests.
Matthew David Ducey - special mention for being a longtime attendee and more recently for picking up the slack on shuttling guests from the airport, to the hotels, and to our group dinners.
TONY PEREZ - last but not least, Tony has managed our floor for a number of years. He has been my right hand man overseeing the smooth check-in for dealers, keeping the guests hydrated and content, and greasing the wheels during event days to keep the show running smoothly. I am grateful for his assistance, advice and friendship.

I will be sharing an announcement about the future of the show tomorrow. Again, many thanks to all of you.
