I finally found time to finish the wenge and maple box.

This wood is thirsty my friend 😂. If you can’t tell, it’s an end grain cutting board made with walnut, maple, and mahogany. I’ve been working on it a few minutes at a time in between other projects. I finally got to the oiling stage and this is the second coat. She may be hinting that she wants a Dos Equis rather than oil 😂

Well, the wenge decided it wanted to be a box. So, I mixed in a little maple with it. It has some flaws but it’s been a fun project. Once I sand and apply a finish, it will probably be a decanter box with glasses and coasters. Unless it decides it wants to hold something else 😁

I finished this last night. This is made from 3/4” solid Purple Heart and maple.

As you can see from the plaque, this was hand forged. The owner wanted it easily removable to keep it oiled. It took a little thought but we made this solid walnut shadowbox so that you can remove the back to easily access the piece and remove it in just a couple of seconds and yet the force it is held in with prevents it from moving unless you take the back off. We love a good challenge!

This was fun to make. Lots of color and we were able to make the weapon easily removable and yet difficult to move unintentionally.
