The displays, and supplies, remaining at The One Dream Gift Shop will be sold on a first-come, first-served basis, on Monday, January 26th, starting at 9am. The cost will be marked, plus tax. There will be NO DISCOUNTS. Purchaser will be responsible for removing items by NOON, on Thursday, January 29th. Any remaining items will be forfeited, and no money will be returned. ALL SALES FINAL.

Good afternoon,

For many years, the One Dream gift shop has been a source of joy, pride, and goodwill at UPMC Western Maryland.

Like many other retail destinations, over the last several years sales have dwindled amid our changing world. Ever-increasing competition from online retailers has combined with changes in the amount of time patients stay in the hospital. For these reasons, the difficult decision to close the One Dream gift shop has been made, and the store’s last day of service will be Friday, Jan. 23.

As the gift shop prepares to close its doors over the next several weeks, there will be opportunities to purchase the merchandise in stock at discounted prices, just in time for the holiday season. We look forward to sharing details of these sales with you soon.

As this change takes place, I would like to share my appreciation for Sharon Amick and her leadership at the store over the years, as well as our UPMC Western Maryland and WMHS volunteers and auxiliary members, who have devoted countless hours of their time in continued support of the store. We know it means a lot to them, and we look forward to putting their time and talent to use in other areas of need across the hospital.

I would also like to thank you all for supporting the One Dream gift shop. While we will no longer serve you on the first floor of the hospital, we look forward to continuing to offer several sales with outside vendors throughout the year.

We hope you’ll make a special effort to visit the shop during its final few weeks.
