📢 Need to get rid of trash or recyclables in Jackson County? ♻️

Good news — there are several staffed recycling centers and a transfer station where Jackson County residents can drop off trash, recycling, and many types of waste.

🏠 Places to go:

Jackson County Transfer Station — 1172 Mineral Springs Dr, Sylva, NC 28779. Open Monday–Friday 7 AM–4 PM, Saturday 7 AM–12 PM.

Cashiers Staffed Recycling Center — 4560 Highway 107 South, Cashiers, NC 28717.

Other staffed recycling centers throughout the county (e.g. in Cullowhee, Dillsboro, Greens Creek, Glenville, Balsam, Tuckasegee, and Qualla) provide regular recycling and residential waste.

♻️ What you can drop off:

Recyclables: paper, cardboard, metal cans, plastic containers (follow “commingled” / “fiber” separation as directed)

Household trash, old electronics, scrap metal, white goods (stoves, washers, dryers), metal, tires (at the Transfer Station), and more — depending on the site.

Construction-related debris, yard waste, brush, building materials — usually at the Transfer Station (fees may apply).

✅ These services are available to residents of Jackson County — and using them helps keep our community cleaner, greener, and safer.

If you’re unsure what counts as “trash,” “recycling,” or “special waste,” the staff at the centers are generally happy to help — or you can call: (828) 586-7577 (Transfer Station) or the number for your nearest Recycling Center.
