Picture time! Oh yes, who doesn’t love a simple pink tail with sparkles among it! Sea what I did there? If you know, you know! Anyways, this silicone Spellbound mermaid tail was created using various “odds and ends” at the shop, in an effort to cleanup some shelving for a bunch of orders coming our way and to make room for current production!

The fluke is the Triton spellbound fluke in case you were wanting to know for future reference 😉

Who’s the tail for you ask? It’s going to be used for our up in coming Halloween show ( Tentatively “Mermaid Manor”) at Mertailor’s Mermaid Aquarium Encounter then who knows what! We may keep it and utilize it for our Little Mermaid character or we may offer it to our fans and friends in the Mertailor Pod on FB! No clue yet ✨

What started as an idea, some PVC pipe and another crazy idea… became the Mermaid Throne!

From building the armature to hand sculpting roughly 300 pounds of Smooth-On Inc. Free Form™ Habitat™ Black, carving the stonework, adding coral and barnacles, painting, and finally sealing everything with Smooth-On Tarbender™ Clear Epoxy Coating… this one was quite the project!

A lot of work, a lot of patience, and definitely a few moments of wondering what I got myself into 😂 But seeing it finally underwater made it all worth it.

Huge thanks to Smooth-On Inc. and Reynolds Advanced Materials for helping me bring this crazy idea to life!

Now… what do I build next? 😳

Can we just run away and be mermaids?… Wait a second… that happens almost every day around here. 😂

I’ve been going down memory lane over the last few days and came across some of these beauties that definitely got quite a few miles on their fins.

20-something years ago. Crazy.

Time flies and SO much has changed. Looking back at where all of this started and everything that has happened since is almost unbelievable sometimes. So many accomplishments, so many things I never imagined would actually happen, and so much to be grateful for.

There have definitely been plenty of tears along the way, but there have been a whole lot more laughs, happiness, ridiculous moments, and smiles.

Would I do it all over again? Absolutely.
